Research at the Chair covers substantive civil law institutions from national and comparative perspectives. The staff's output includes leading publications in Polish and international journals and academic publishers, participation in national and international research teams, as well as legislative and codification work.
Research areas
General part and property law
Research covers the fundamental institutions of civil law: legal subjects, juridical acts, representation, time limits, limitation, ownership, limited property rights, land registers and mortgages. Systemic issues and the practice of applying law in legal transactions are of particular importance.
Obligations
The research covers the general and specific parts of the law of obligations, including contractual and tort liability, nominate and innominate contracts, consumer law and contemporary transformations of civil-law transactions.
Succession and family law
Research focuses on statutory and testamentary succession, reserved share, liability for estate debts, matrimonial property relations, parental authority and the protection of the interests of close relatives in private law.
Private-law systems and comparative law
Research covers private-law systems, the harmonisation of civil law in the European Union, model law and comparative analysis of civil-law institutions. Foreign legislative, judicial and doctrinal solutions are an important point of reference.
