Chair of Civil Law

One of the largest chairs of WPiA UW

We conduct research and teaching in substantive civil law: from the general part, through property law and obligations, to family and succession law. We combine dogmatic reflection with analysis of jurisprudence, business practice and legislative change.

Civil law
ius civile

Civil law regulates pecuniary and non-pecuniary relations between formally equal parties — natural persons, legal persons and certain organisational units.

It is not only the foundation of the private-law order of the Republic of Poland, but also a dynamic field of research conducted at the Chair of Civil Law on the institutions within its scope, their development in doctrine and jurisprudence, and the importance of civil law for contemporary commerce.
